Information Security Specialist | A Career Overview

Who is an Information Security Specialist?

Cybersecurity professionals, also known as information (IT) security specialists or network security specialists, play a critical role in safeguarding the information systems of corporations and other organizations.

Traditionally, essential technology responsibilities were performed by network operations and IT technology specialists and teams. But, because our world has become so reliant on modern technology for almost everything, the stakes are higher than ever.

As a result, cybersecurity experts and their IT security colleagues have become indispensable to all enterprises, working both on the front lines and behind the scenes to defend digital systems and assets from hackers, threats, and vulnerabilities.

Sometimes, cybersecurity experts have in-depth knowledge of a certain vendor's product (such as CISCO Systems, which manufactures networking and IT devices), or they may have competence in other disciplines such as computer operating systems or mobile apps.
